Physiological effects of Calisthenics on Explosive Strength of the students

This research study considered the effect of calisthenics training intervention of 12 weeks on explosive strength of the male University of Lahore (UL), Punjab, Pakistan (UL) university student athletes. In this particular study longitudinal experimental research design was applied, totally consisted 60 male participants were randomly divided equally into an experimental group (n = 30) and the other control group (n = 30). Written consent was taken from all the respondents. The experimental research group was subjected to 8-week long calisthenics training intervention that was based on exercises like burpees, box jumps and depth jumps which gradually increased in intensity from initially 60% to finally 80% of the maximum heart rate (MHR). The collected data were analysed using a paired t-test within the groups and an independent t-test between the groups to measure pre and post intervention variation. Results of the study indicated positive significant improvement in explosive strength for the experimental group while the control group presented no outstanding variation in all the three variables. These results of the research work provided the establishment in effectiveness of calisthenics intervention to improve physical fitness and also its application for the improvement of athletic performance of coronary vascular healthcare of the participants.
