Achieving Sheet-on-Sheet Structure of Pt and Ni(OH) 2 for Electrochemical Detection of Ammonia-Nitrogen

This work introduced a new sensor based on Ni(OH) 2 nanosheets and Pt nanosheets on the surface of Ni foam (Pt-Ni(OH) 2 -NF) for electrochemical detection of ammonia-nitrogen in the aqueous environment. This Pt-Ni(OH) 2 -NF sensor has been fabricated via hydrothermal synthesis method and electrochemical I-t technique. The electrochemical deposition process of Pt nanosheets has been controlled including deposition time and deposition potential. The optimized Pt-Ni(OH) 2 -NF showed the best electrochemical catalytic activity for ammonia oxidation reaction compared to other samples. Furthermore, optimized Pt-Ni(OH) 2 -NF exhibited great electrochemical detection performances for ammonia-nitrogen via differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) technique. The detection limit, sensitivity and linear range have been calculated with the value of 1.124[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]M, 61.4[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]A [Formula: see text]M[Formula: see text] and from 5 to 1000[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]M based on the measured results. Finally, the selectivity and other measurements have been conducted and showed great performances.
