A dataset of national hog wholesale price analysis from 2011 to 2022

<p indent="0mm">Pork is one of the main meat sources in China’s diet, and pork provides a rich source of protein and other nutrients that are an important part of people′s diets. Knowledge of historical wholesale pork price data on a regional scale can help agricultural policy-makers and market participants better understand market trends, make pricing decisions and plan hog production. This dataset is constructed based on the information platform of the National Key Agricultural Market Information Platform to obtain the wholesale price of hogs in each province (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) of China as the basic data. After sampling inspection, handling missing values, outliers, calculating tie values, and performing STL (Seasonal and Trend decomposition using Loess) decomposition and MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) index calculation. The resulting dataset covers the period from 2011 to 2022 for the whole country and 17 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) in China. The dataset provides analysis of wholesale hog prices in China and 17 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) from 2011 to 2022. The time coverage of the dataset is from 2011 to 2022, and the time granularity is divided into weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual. The data elements contain 10 fields: date, average price, trend, seasonality, residual, 12-day exponential moving average, 26-day exponential moving average, deviation, deviation average, and moving average convergence and divergence indicators. This dataset can be used for in-depth analysis of long-term and short-term trends in national hog prices, as well as providing basic data for regional hog price studies.
