Management of moderate and severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS): a Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) clinical practice guideline

Abstract
Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a potentially serious complication associated with ovarian stimulation for assisted reproductive technology (ART). While measures to prevent and reduce the incidence of OHSS are part of good clinical practice, OHSS still occurs, and patients may present to clinicians with varying familiarity with the condition. Diagnosis is largely clinical, although radiological and laboratory testing help determine the severity of the syndrome. Management of moderate and severe OHSS is primarily supportive either as an outpatient or as an inpatient and may include paracentesis. Critical OHSS needs hospitalization and multidisciplinary care. This clinical practice guideline assesses the published evidence regarding the diagnosis and management of patients presenting with moderate and severe OHSS.
