Global expansion of China National Tobacco Corporation and its implications for international tobacco control
CNTC's international expansion brings significant but under-recognised risk to global tobacco control efforts. CNTC's large scale and financial structure enable robust capacity to influence international tobacco markets in ways that may undermine taxation, regulation and public health objectives. Stronger international coordination as well as enhanced fiscal and regulatory tools are essential to protect global tobacco control efforts.
