Carpool app: a college commuting solution
Traffic congestion, high travel costs, and parking space scarcity are notable challenges colleges and their students and teachers grapple with. This paper proposes Carpool Somaiya – a college-specific carpooling system designed to respond to the needs of college communities by providing a safe, efficient and eco-friendly alternative for ride sharing. It connects the users with the same routes and schedules through constructive elements that include safety features integrated in the design and smart route matching techniques for eco-friendly means of transportation. In previous studies, the expected benefits include the reduction of the automobile emissions, moderation of campus traffic, and decreased costs of any commuting. Carpool Somaiya also addresses critical transport problems in the college while encouraging environmentally friendly commuting habits while fostering community spirit.
