Design and Development of a 6-DOF 3D-Printed Robotic Arm for Automation Applications-A Review
With the increasing adoption of Industry 4.0 and automation technologies, there is a growing need for robotic systems that are affordable, adaptable, and easy to customize. In response to this demand, this study focuses on the design, fabrication, and experimental validation of a low-cost six Degrees of Freedom (6-DOF) robotic arm developed using 3D printing and operated through an Arduino-based embedded controller. The proposed system combines mechanical structure, electronic circuitry, and software-based automation supported by a graphical user interface (GUI). To improve user interaction and functionality, features such as manual operation, position saving, motion playback, and data import/export have been incorporated.Experimental evaluation indicates that the developed robotic arm achieves acceptable levels of positional accuracy, repeatability, and load capacity. These results confirm its potential application in small-scale automation, research laboratories, and academic institutions.
