Lead the Way Through Tumultuous Times
If you or someone in your office is trying Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini for the first time, set basic privacy protections to protect your donors and your organization, advises Sarah Pita, director of development at the Center for Independence of the Disabled (New York, NY).For a basic privacy protection measure, go into your settings and opt out of allowing the model to use your chats for training data.Your settings are located in one of the corners of your screen. ChatGPT: Settings Data Controls turn OFF "Improve the Model for Everyone."Claude: Settings Privacy turn OFF "Help improve Claude."Gemini: Settings Activity turn OFF "Keep activity."Taking this step will prevent your conversations from being used to train future versions of the AI, Pita explains, but be aware your data still passes through these services.Never enter confidential donor information, client data or other sensitive details.Paid enterprise models have tighter privacy protection for team use, she notes.
