(PM-33) Quality of sexual life in patients with neuro-urological diseases - updated data
Abstract Neurourological diseases affect the nervous system and are directly related to the location and extent of the lesion. The survival of patients with these conditions has increased in recent years, but there is insufficient information on the quality of life and sexuality of this population. This study aims to analyze the demographic profile and evaluate the quality of life and sexuality of these patients. The WHOQoL-BREF associated with IIEF5 was applied to male and the FSFI to female patients who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected from 58 patients, 16 women and 42 men. 58.6% of the patients had spinal cord trauma, 20.6% congenital diseases and 18.9% acquired diseases. The mean age was 40.7 years. 77.5% were religious, 43.1% considered white. 53% completed high school and 25% superior education. The majority (60%) did not have a formal employment relationship. Regarding quality of life, the domain with the best evaluation was linked to autonomy, good health and psychological health, and the worst evaluation score was related to limitations caused by physical pain (71%).12% considered having enough money to meet their needs. Regarding sexual quality of life, 57% of patients were satisfied (57% men and 64% women), even though it was identified that most of them (57% men and 56% women) had not had sexual relations in the last year. Analyzing the IIEF-5, we observed an average score of 11.8 (mild to moderate erectile dysfunction). For women, analyzing the FSFI results, we observed an average of 48.8. We can infer that neurological disease impacts negatively the quality of life of individuals in the domains of the environment, access to information and sufficient money for their needs. Most individuals are satisfied with their sex life despite the lack of sexual practice. We observed similarity in satisfaction and dissatisfaction rates between men and women. Further studies are needed to define sexual satisfaction and quality of life in this specific group of individuals. Financing No conflict.
