(PM-41) Evaluation of erectile function in men with post-living renal transplantation CKD: cross-sectional study

Abstract Introduction and Objective Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a sexual dysfunction with increased prevalence in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), especially those in end-stage renal disease. The etiology of ED in CKD patients is multifactorial, with vasculogenic dysfunction being one of the main causes. Penile Doppler Ultrasound with Drug-Induction (USGDPF) is a complementary diagnostic method used to evaluate ED, particularly in patients with suspected vasculogenic origin. Objective To evaluate erectile function and dysfunction in patients with CKD after living donor kidney transplantation. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in male patients who underwent living donor kidney transplantation. Data collection took place between 2019 and 2022. Evaluation was performed using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), specifically the Erectile Function (EF) domain, and USGDPF. Variables were described in absolute and relative frequencies, and associations between variables were assessed using Fisher’s exact test in R software, with a significance level set at p < 0.005. Results Fifteen men were evaluated. The mean age was 41.5 (±8.18) years, and the mean body mass index (BMI) was 27.88 (±4.08) kg/m2. Regarding the IIEF-EF, 5 men (33.3%) did not have ED, while 10 men (66.7%) presented varying degrees of ED: mild (n = 3; 20%), mild to moderate (n = 4; 26.7%), moderate (n = 2; 13.3%), and severe (n = 1; 6.7%). In the USGDPF evaluation, 3 men (20%) had vasculogenic dysfunction: 1 (6.7%) with veno-occlusive dysfunction and 2 (13.3%) with arteriogenic insufficiency. There was no statistically significant association between the presence of ED and USGDPF findings (p = 0.637). Conclusion Men with CKD after living donor kidney transplantation presented a high prevalence of erectile dysfunction based on the IIEF-EF questionnaire, but no association was found with vasculogenic abnormalities as assessed by USGDPF. Financing No conflict.
