Nickel-catalyzed efficient double cross-coupling of diaryl sulfides applicable to polyphenylene sulfide depolymerization to p -terphenyls
Abstract Nickel-catalyzed double cross-coupling of various diaryl sulfides with Grignard reagents via cleavage of two C–S bonds efficiently proceeds in the presence of a moderately sterically hindered and electron-rich ligand, tris(3-methoxyphenyl)phosphine, P(m-MeOPh)3. This catalytic system is applicable to the depolymerization of polyphenylene sulfide to afford p-terphenyls.
