Prediction accuracy improvement for landslide susceptibility mapping using the combination of frequency ratio, Analytical Hierarchy Process, and curve fitting methods in the area between Sinop and Ayancık, Türkiy

Landslide susceptibility mapping is commonly used to reduce the risks caused by landslides. In this study, maps were created for the area between Sinop province and Ayancık district using three methods: Frequency Ratio (FR), Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), and Curve Fitting. The maps were based on factors like lithology, slope, elevation, aspect, curvature, distance to faults, roads, and rivers, land cover, and past landslide locations. According to the results, 63.56%, 69.505%, and 81.84% of known landslides were located in areas marked as very high, high, or moderate risk by the FR, AHP, and Curve Fitting methods, respectively. The Curve Fitting method captured 81.84% of landslides in these zones, highlighting its strong capability to model spatial landslide distribution based on conditioning factors.
