Migration of CADI to Fence

The CMS Analysis Database Interface (CADI) is a central tool for managing physics publications within the CMS experiment, tracking the life-cycle of analysis projects from inception to publication. To modernize its infrastructure and align with broader LHC technology developments, CMS has initiated a migration of CADI to the Glance framework — a system originally developed by ATLAS and later enhanced by LHCb using modular and domain-driven design. The Front End Engine for Glance (FENCE) is a technology developed by the UFRJ team that emerged to unify and facilitate the development of UFRJ-CERN collaboration systems. The new architecture separates concerns via a PHP-based REST API backend and a Vue.js frontend. This paper presents the methodology followed for the CADI migration, focusing on two Glance subsystems: membership (managing users, institutes, reports, and authorships) and analysis lifecycle management (ALCM) (handling publication workflows). We present the key challenges encountered throughout the migration process, along with valuable lessons learned that can guide other experiments in future transitions to modern, modular systems.
