Chronic Calcific Pancreatitis in Early Pregnancy with Overt Diabetes Mellitus: A Multidisciplinary Management Approach

Chronic calcific pancreatitis (CCP) in pregnancy is rare and poses unique diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. We report a case of a 28-yearold primigravida who presented at 10 weeks of gestation with recurrent epigastric pain radiating to the back.Ultrasonography and subsequent magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatograph (MRCP) confirmed CCP with choledocholithiasis. The patient was concurrently diagnosed with overt diabetes mellitus and managed with insulin therapy.A multidisciplinary approach involving gastroenterologists, physicians, and obstetricians ensured favorable maternal and fetal outcomes. She underwent an elective cesarean section at 37 weeks with no complications. This case highlights the importance of coordinated care in managing high-risk pregnancies complicated by pancreatic pathology.
