Development of design solutions for reduction of maximum stresses in the vessel housing

Process tanks of oil and gas industries, as a rule, have individual design and operational features, which to a decisive extent affect the zones of concentration of increased stresses and stress values in structural elements. Also, during operation, the structural elements of the tank to a greater or lesser extent can be subject to corrosion wear due to the structural materials of the working media. Thinning of the wall occurs, a decrease in the safety margin and, as a result, a redistribution of zones of concentration of increased stresses and an increase in the values of maximum stresses. In order to compensate for the high maximum stresses in the vessel body, it is advisable to install stiffening rings using welding. Each application of stiffening rings (dimensions, number, place of installation relative to other structural elements, installation on the inner or outer surface of the housing) is always individual in nature and should be determined depending on the operating conditions, the degree of damage and the design of the technical device.
