Foliar Nitrogen Uptake Across Leaf Ages in Canopy Trees of a Tropical and a Subtropical Natural Forest
Summary statement Foliar nitrogen (N) uptake varied widely across 13 tree species and leaf ages in natural tropical and subtropical forests. Species with higher N demand and denser stomata had higher foliar N uptake, especially in mature leaves. N uptake in old leaves was more influenced by PAR and soil conditions.
