STUDY ON THE JET REFRACTION PHENOMENON BASED ON THIN-PACKED BED MODEL

This paper mainly investigates the jet refraction phenomenon caused by the change in the downstream jet path after the jet impacts an inclined mesh surface. In this study, the mesh surface is regarded as a thin packed bed, the bend angle-the degree of refraction is described by two restitution coefficients which are calculated using normal pressure drop and tangential resistance. Combining the experiment exploration with Fluent simulation analysis, the law of jet refraction phenomenon changing with parameters such as flow velocity, jet diameter, mesh surface inclination angle, and mesh count are obtained. The results show that the jet refraction phenomenon is influenced most obviously by the angle of inclination and mesh number. The along-screen-flow and internal refraction may occur when the mesh number is high or the screen porosity is small.
