Bilateral Retroauricular Kimura Disease: A Case Report
Kimura disease is a chronic inflammatory lymphoproliferative disorder of unclear etiology. It presents as soft tissue and a painless mass.It mostly affects the head, neck, salivary gland, and cervical nodes.Increased peripheral blood eosinophil count and increased serum immunoglobulin E level are the main features in these patients.Lymphoid proliferation and eosinophilic infiltration are the characteristic microscopic features. This article reports a case of Kimura disease in a 32-year-old Indian male who presented with bilateral retroauricular swelling. The clinical presentation of a soft nontender mass was suggestive of a benign lesion, but cytology and histopathology examination led us to the diagnosis of Kimura's disease.
