Toepassing van groepentheorie in computationele elektromagnetica en inverse ontwerp voor 2D-structuren

Group theory provides a rigorous mathematical framework for exploiting the effects of symmetries in physical systems and has been serving as a bridge between geometric structures and physical behaviors in electromagnetic (EM) wave engineering. This thesis develops a systematic methodology that integrates group representation theory (GRT) with the conventional computational electromagnetics (CEM) algorithms and topology optimization techniques. The objective is to reduce problem dimensionality, improve numerical efficiency and accuracy, and accelerate inverse design process for symmetric EM devices.

Abstract

Group theory provides a rigorous mathematical framework for exploiting the effects of symmetries in physical systems and has been serving as a bridge between geometric structures and physical behaviors in electromagnetic (EM) wave engineering. This thesis develops a systematic methodology that integrates group representation theory (GRT) with the conventional computational electromagnetics (CEM) algorithms and topology optimization techniques. The objective is to reduce problem dimensionality, improve numerical efficiency and accuracy, and accelerate inverse design process for symmetric EM devices.
