Photochemical Amino‐Chlorination of Alkenes Utilizing Thioxanthone as the Photocatalyst
ABSTRACT The atom transfer radical additions (ATRA) are useful organic transformations for the difunctionalization of alkenes. Herein, we report a cheap and efficient photochemical method utilizing thioxanthone as the photocatalyst for the anti ‐Markovnikov addition of N ‐chloro‐tosylamides on a variety of unactivated olefins, leading to the corresponding difunctionalized products bearing a chlorine and a nitrogen‐containing moiety in good to high yields under household fluorescent light bulb irradiation.
