CLASSICAL YOGAS IN NASA ROGAS: AN ANALYSIS BASED ON BHAISHAJYA RATNAVALI
Nasa is a vital organ in Ayurveda, responsible for respiration, olfaction, and as a gateway for therapeutic administration through Nasya Karma, thereby maintaining systemic health. Nasa Rogas, such as Peenasa, Nasapaka, Kshavathu, Pratishyaya, Nasakrimi, Nasa Arsha, Pootinasya, and Apeenasa, can disrupt nasal function and overall well-being. Bhaishajya Ratnavali describes 29 classical Yogas for their management, tailored according to Dosha involvement, disease type, and site-specific requirements. These include internal therapies (Pana), local applications (Pradeha), Nasya, Dhoomapana, Avapeeda, and herbo-mineral formulations. For example, Peenasa is treated with Ksheer preparations, Chitraka-Haritaki, and Panchamrita Rasa, while Pratishyaya employs Panchalavana Siddha Ghrita, Darvyadi Dhoomavarti, and Pippalyadi Avapeeda. This compilation highlights the Dosha-specific and localized approach of Ayurveda in nasal disorders and serves as a useful reference for clinicians, researchers, and future clinical studies in nasal disease management.
