Older Husband, Richer Family?
Household income frequently accounts for family economic stability and total quality of life. This study examines the relationship between household income and the age at which the husband is older than the wife (AHOW). The findings indicate an inverted U relationship between AHOW and household income, suggesting that a greater age difference between the couple may not increase income and may even decrease it. It indicates that age differences should be carefully considered when selecting a partner. It suggests that, from an income-optimization perspective, the man might avoid marrying a wife considerably younger than himself.
