Advancing Faith-Based Higher Education:
This study evaluates the strategic implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in the Master's and Doctoral programs in Islamic Education at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung.Although OBE is widely applied in secular education, its integration into Islamic higher education has been minimally researched, particularly in relation to combining religious values with measurable learning outcomes in accordance with international standards.Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through document analysis, semi-structured interviews with 12 key informants, and field observations. The research focus includes curriculum alignment with OBE principles, the effectiveness of knowledge, skill, and attitude outcomes, as well as institutional-specific enabling and inhibiting factors in religious-based institutions. The findings reveal significant achievements, such as a 95% graduate employment rate within six months, stable faculty publication output (519 publications in 2018-2020 vs. 520 in 2021-2023), and alignment with KKNI standards. However, when adjusted for a 24% increase in faculty size, per capita publication rates decreased by 18%, indicating that productivity improvements are primarily attributable to increased staffing rather than OBE implementation alone.Additional challenges include infrastructure limitations, student readiness (35% from noneducational backgrounds), and the integration of spiritual values with measurable competencies. This study offers a Faith-Based Outcome-Based Education (FB-OBE) model that expands Biggs' Constructive Alignment Theory with a fourth dimension of spiritual alignment, providing strategic contributions for institutions integrating religious authenticity and global professionalism.
