Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Sustainability Project-Based Learning: Multidisciplinary University Students Perspectives

The major objective of this study is to explore the perspectives of graduate and postgraduate university students on the integration and utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in sustainability project-based learning (PBL). The focus will be directed toward two prevailing issues: 1) the extent of students’ approval of applying AI tools to improve the efficiency of sustainability-focused PBL, and 2) the influence of the students’ degree level on their perceptions. Accordingly, a survey comprising 20 items was conducted to gather data from the study sample, which is consisting of graduate and postgraduate students from both the engineering and education colleges. The survey domains explored the students’ perceptions of AI in sustainability PBL, its impact on the development of the students’ skills and competencies, and the challenges they face in the process. The SPSS application was used to analyze the survey results, indicating a generally positive attitude of the students toward integrating AI into sustainability PBL. The ultimate aim of this study is to provide evidence driven by multidisciplinary university students’ perspectives for the educational organizations and decision makers about the importance and effectiveness of integrating sustainable teaching practices.
