A new genus and species of Cypraeoidea from the Bartonian (Middle Eocene) of Allué, Sabiñánigo (Huesca Province, Spain), and taxonomic and nomenclatural remarks on the genus Oxycypraea Schilder, 1927

A new taxon of Cypraeoidea from the Middle Eocene of Huesca Province (Aragon, Spain) is described. Although represented by a single, relatively large specimen, its distinctive morphological features unambiguously warrant the establishment of a new genus and species. Taxonomic and nomenclatural remarks are provided concerning the species Ovula delphinoides Cossmann, 1886 and the generic taxon Oxycypraea Schilder, 1927 from the Lower Lutetian (Middle Eocene) of the Paris Basin. The nomenclature of this species, assigned to the genus Transovula De Gregorio, 1880, is clarified through the designation of a neotype
