A Study on the Necessity of ADS-B Equipment Installation on Training Aircraft

Currently, there is no regulatory requirement in the Republic of Korea to install ADS-B(Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) equipment on training aircraft. As a result, the ability to monitor aircraft and prevent traffic collisions within controlled airspace is limited. On the other hand, aviation authorities such as the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) in the United States and the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) have mandated ADS-B installations to improve both aviation safety and airspace management efficiency. The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of installing ADS-B equipment on training aircraft by analyzing accident rates based on whether ADS-B equipment is installed or not, replacing certain functions of FDR (Flight Data Recorders) and TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System). This study aims to contribute to improving both aviation safety and the quality of flight training by evaluating the necessity and practical benefits of installing the system in terms of education and operation.
