Field-Trial Investigations into the Impact of Digital Twin Accuracy on Optical Power Optimization

This paper evaluates the impact of digital twin (DT) accuracy on optical power optimization using a field-trial testbed. Three DT types are evaluated, demonstrating similar Q-factor optimization within a 0.1 dB discrepancy and approximately 0.3 dB degradation compared to an online optimization scheme that performs power optimization directly on the field, regardless of DT accuracy levels.

Abstract

This paper evaluates the impact of digital twin (DT) accuracy on optical power optimization using a field-trial testbed. Three DT types are evaluated, demonstrating similar Q-factor optimization within a 0.1 dB discrepancy and approximately 0.3 dB degradation compared to an online optimization scheme that performs power optimization directly on the field, regardless of DT accuracy levels.
