Narrativas de la “monstruosidad” en la obra de Andrés Caicedo
This article proposes a reading of the journalistic, critical and media reception of the work of the Colombian writer Andrs Caicedo. The analysis explores how the image of the author has been defined under the category of narratives of enfreakment, understood as a set of ideas and prejudices that reduce the artistic and cultural importance of a work and its creator to brands that refer to illness, disability, rarity and eccentricity. In the specific case of Caicedo, it is possible to identify how his work has been reduced to being a testament to mental illness and suicide, leaving aside the complexities inherent to a work of high aesthetic and literary value.
