Estratificación de riesgo de la enfermedad cardiovascular en la mujer
Risk Factors and Prevention StrategiesCVD encompasses coronary, cerebrovascular, and peripheral vascular diseases. To reduce morbidity and mortality in women, it is crucial to conduct a proper assessment of global cardiovascular risk.Cardiovascular risk is defi ned as the probability of developing an atherosclerotic cardiovascular event within a given time frame and is assessed using tables, scales, or calculators that combine conventional risk factors, both modifi able and non-modifi able. The information provided by these tables or scores helps determine the appropriateness and intensity of pharmacological treatment and target goals for measurable variables such as blood pressure or plasma lipids. It is essential to consider risk factors unique to women, as their impact differs compared to men 3 .The current understanding acknowledges a complex interdependence between sex and gender in humans, and differences in these contexts can affect cardiovascular health.Recognizing these differences is crucial to guide treatment with pharmacological and/or interventional therapies.
