Dichlorine-Containing Chlorothallate(III) (Me 4 N) 3 {[Tl 2 Cl 9 ](Cl 2 )}: Crystal Structure and Thermal Stability
The first example of a supramolecular complex of high-valent thallium(III)-containing "trapped" dichlorine, (Me4N)3{[Tl2Cl9](Cl2)} (<b>1</b>), has been prepared. <b>1</b> was characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffractometry, indicating the presence of the "trapped" dichlorine unit with prominent Cl···Cl noncovalent interactions. The complex demonstrates a relatively high thermal stability (up to 140 °C). Features of the Cl···Cl halogen contacts were examined by Raman spectroscopy.
