Fabrication of polymer stabilized lead-free perovskite halide incorporated UiO66 for energy storage devices: A novel approach towards sustainable and clean energy

Supercapacitors (SCs) have gained popularity over the years as they have higher power density, ease to operate, greater cyclic stability, rapid charging/discharging rates. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)-based composites have been widely investigated as electrode materials for SCs due to their high specific surface area, tunable porosity for the transfer of ions which is important for energy storage devices. In this research work, a novel nanocomposite (NCs) has been synthesized comprising of polyaniline (PANI)/Chitosan (CHT), a perovskite-type halide (HLPEV) CsSnCl 3 and UiO66. Polymer (PANI/CHT) stabilized CsSnCl 3 /UiO66 nanocomposite (PCU) was prepared using two solvent mediums (i) acetic acid (AA) and (ii) n-hexane (NH) and the NCs were labeled as PCUAA and PCUNH respectively. The as-synthesized materials were characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM, EDX, Raman, TGA and BET. Morphological features of PCUAA were found entirely different from PCUNH as pore-size of former sample was found higher than its counterpart. These materials were investigated for their electrochemical (EC) behavior using KOH as an electrolyte and results of CV, GCD, and EIS have been reported. Specific capacitance (C sp ) of PCUAA and PCUNH were calculated which comes out to be 248.10 F/g and 130.5 F/g respectively. The ohmic resistance (Rs) for both the electrode materials was 1. 62 Ω and charge transfer resistance (Rct) for PCUAA and PCUNH is 4.51 Ω and 6.96 Ω respectively. The coulombic stability, Ragone plots, Dunn's method, % retention, and cyclic stability were also calculated. Based on current study, novel composite can be considered as promising material for next-generation energy storage devices. • Nanocomposite (PCU) has been synthesized comprising, UiO66, CsSnCl 3 and PANI. • Synthesis was carried out in two different solvent mediums (i) acetic acid and (ii) n-hexane. • Analysis of PCU was performed employing XRD, EDX, TGA, FESEM, BET and FTIR. • Nanocomposites synthesized using different solvents can acquire different morphologies. • Synthesized PCU was then investigated for its supercapacitance behavior in alkaline medium. • Csp of 248.10 and 130.5 F/g was calculated for PCUAA and PCUNH respectively.
