BIM-Driven Environmental Interpretation and Embodied Carbon Optimization of an Educational Building Using Autodesk Forma and Life Cycle Assessment

This record presents a preprint research article investigating a BIM-driven workflow for environmental interpretation and embodied carbon optimization of an existing educational building. The study integrates Autodesk Revit-based BIM modeling, Autodesk Forma environmental analyses, and life cycle assessment using One Click LCA to evaluate material-level embodied carbon impacts. Two scenarios—a baseline as-built condition and a low-carbon material substitution strategy—are compared under a cradle-to-gate (A1–A3) system boundary. The work demonstrates the potential of integrated BIM and LCA approaches to support practical, early-stage sustainability decision-making. This manuscript has not yet undergone peer review.
