Complete Genome Sequence of Streptococcus sp. HJ1 Reveals Genes for Colonization and Survival on Human Skin
A novel bacterial strain, designated Streptococcus sp.HJ1 (hereafter referred to as strain HJ1), was isolated from healthy human facial skin. Its whole genome was sequenced and analyzed, revealing a 1.9 Mbp genome with 1,972 genes.Genomic analysis suggests it is closely related to Streptococcus oralis (94.6% ANI), and it harbors a putative collagen-binding protein and several antibiotic resistance genes. These genomic features suggest adaptations for host tissue adhesion, survival in the skin environment, and stress tolerance.
