Production and Evaluation of Scouring Powder From Eggshell and Detergent For Household Use in Makurdi

This study focused on the production and evaluation of scouring powder formulated from eggshells and detergent for household use. The study was guided by four research questions and adopted a quasi-experimental research design. The formulation process involved combining finely ground eggshell powder with detergent to produce an effective cleaning agent. Data were collected to assess the preparation procedure and the cleaning efficiency of the produced scouring powder. The findings revealed that respondents agreed that the preparation method was appropriately carried out. Results further indicated that the scouring powder effectively removed stains when sufficient scrubbing time was applied. Additionally, the scouring powder was found to be effective in removing grease, restoring the shine of cooking utensils, and providing efficient cleaning performance. The study concluded that eggshell-based scouring powder is an effective, low-cost, and environmentally friendly household cleaning agent. It was therefore recommended that households adopt the use of eggshell scouring powder as an alternative to conventional cleaners. Furthermore, small-scale production of eggshell scouring powder was recommended as a viable means of family income generation.
