Comprehensive Review of Microvibration Studies in Control Moment Gyroscopes
Control moment gyroscopes (CMGs) are essential actuators for high-accuracy attitude control in spacecraft, yet they constitute a primary source of microvibrations that critically degrade imaging resolution, communication signal integrity, and pointing stability in advanced space missions. This review presents a systematic investigation of recent progress in CMG microvibration modeling and analysis, classifying their excitation mechanisms and associated modeling approaches. Additionally, it evaluates prevailing vibration isolation techniques in accordance with their operational principles and effectiveness. Numerical simulations are employed to characterize CMG microvibration behavior under various conditions. The study highlights the key challenges in microvibration research and outlines potential future research directions. The objective of this review is to provide a comprehensive reference for researchers in the field and to serve as a basis for further studies on CMG microvibration.
