Perfect compensation of the magnetic sublattices in altermagnet CrSb

Altermagnetism, as an emerging magnetic phase that combines the strong spin-polarization characteristics of ferromagnets and the zero net magnetization advantage of antiferromagnets, holds significant potential in spintronics applications. CrSb, with its high transition temperature and large spin splitting, has recently garnered significant attention as an altermagnetic candidate. Our nuclear magnetic resonance and nuclear quadrupole resonance measurements reveal the absence of intrinsic magnetic fields at the Sb sites. At low temperature, the spin-lattice relaxation rate indicates there are no magnetic fluctuations from Cr moments. The perfect compensation of magnetic fields at Sb positions confirms that magnetic moments of Cr sublattices are symmetrically distributed. This finding offers crucial insights into the microscopic magnetic properties of CrSb.
