The Effect of the Burpee Test and 108 Bows Exercise on the Isokinetic Lower Extremity Muscle Strength of Elite Female Student-Athletes with Knee Pain
Although the Burpee Test and 108 Bows Exercise are reported to be beneficial for improving physical fitness and are considered effective exercises, there is a lack of comparative analysis regarding the effects of each exercise on the isokinetic muscle strength of elite athletes who complain of knee pain. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effects of daily 108 Bows and Burpee Tests performed over two weeks on the lower extremity muscle function of athletes with knee pain, in order to propose an effective exercise. First, at a right knee angular velocity of 60∘ /sec, a significant difference was observed only in Flexion for both the Bowling Group and the Kendo Group. Second, at a right knee angular velocity of 180∘ /sec, a significant difference was observed only in Extension for the Bowling Group and only in Flexion for the Kendo Group. For the left knee angular velocity of 180∘ /sec, a significant difference was observed only in Flexion in the Kendo Group. This study suggests that the Burpee Test and the 108 Bows Exercise may be presented as important intervention programs for knee rehabilitation.
