Least energy solutions for Choquard equations involving vanishing potentials and exponential growth

Abstract In this paper, we consider the existence of solutions for Choquard equation of the form $$\begin{aligned} -\Delta u+V(|x|) u =[I_\alpha *(Q(|x|)F(u))]Q(|x|)f(u), \ \ \ \ x\in \mathbb {R}^{2}, \end{aligned}$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:mtable> <mml:mtr> <mml:mtd> <mml:mrow> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>-</mml:mo> <mml:mi>Δ</mml:mi> <mml:mi>u</mml:mi> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> <mml:mi>V</mml:mi> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mo>|</mml:mo> <mml:mi>x</mml:mi> <mml:mo>|</mml:mo> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> <mml:mi>u</mml:mi> <mml:mo>=</mml:mo> <mml:mo>[</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>I</mml:mi> <mml:mi>α</mml:mi> </mml:msub> <mml:mrow> <mml:mrow/> <mml:mo>∗</mml:mo> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mi>Q</mml:mi> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mo>|</mml:mo> <mml:mi>x</mml:mi> <mml:mo>|</mml:mo> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> <mml:mi>F</mml:mi> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mi>u</mml:mi> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> <mml:mo>]</mml:mo> <mml:mi>Q</mml:mi> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mo>|</mml:mo> <mml:mi>x</mml:mi> <mml:mo>|</mml:mo> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> <mml:mi>f</mml:mi> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mi>u</mml:mi> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:mo>,</mml:mo> <mml:mspace/> <mml:mspace/> <mml:mspace/> <mml:mspace/> <mml:mi>x</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> <mml:mo>∈</mml:mo> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>R</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:msup> <mml:mo>,</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> </mml:mtd> </mml:mtr> </mml:mtable> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> where the nonlinear term f has exponential growth, the radial potentials $$V,\ Q: \mathbb {R}^{+} \rightarrow \mathbb {R}$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>V</mml:mi> <mml:mo>,</mml:mo> <mml:mspace/> <mml:mi>Q</mml:mi> <mml:mo>:</mml:mo> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>R</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> </mml:msup> <mml:mo>→</mml:mo> <mml:mi>R</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> are unbounded, singular at the origin or decaying to zero.
