ASYNCRONOUS MACHINE OPERATION SERVICE IMPACT ON THE FAILURE INTENSITY

This paper proposes methods for adjusting the operational reliability of asynchronous machines (ASM) considering their loading levels over the specific operating regimes that constitute the duty cycle of the machine. This is directly influenced by the level of electrical, magnetic, thermal, and mechanical stress of the machine. The operational reliability of an asynchronous machine (ASM), expressed by the failure rate (λ), is determined over the entire lifetime of the machine, although this represents an overall indicator, it does not consider the specific stress conditions associated with the various operating regimes or duty types experienced by the machine during its entire lifetime. By considering the specific stresses corresponding to the particular operating regimes or service duties of the asynchronous machine (ASM), it is possible to adjust the value of the failure intensity (λ) of the ASM. The new value of λ will effectively consider the failure intensity λ corresponding to the specific operating periods (such as starting, stopping, braking, no-load operation, idle state, and loaded operation).
