The flash point measurement for binary mixtures {n-heptane+2-butanol} and {2,2,4-trimethylpentane+ n-heptane} at 101.3 kPa
For the assessment of the flammability of diverse samples, determination of the flash point (FP) is the simplest, fastest, and most used approach. FPs are particularly relevant to flammable and combustible liquids, such as solvents, fuels and many industrial chemicals and petroleum. In this study, the FP data were experimented for the miscible mixtures {n-hepatne + 2-butanol} and {2,2,4-trimethylpentane + n-heptane} at 101.3 kPa. A Stanhope-Seta closed cup flash point tester, which meets the requirements of the ASTM D 3278 standard, was used to measure the FPs for a variety of miscible mixtures at different compositions. The measured FPs were compared with the predicted values calculated using the Raoult’s law and also following activity coefficient models: NRTL and UNIQUAC.
