Laute, Lallen und Lalangue
This article attempts to show that it is precisely through the canonical babbling of children that the human language is established as a primacy over all other languages. This universalism is based on the fact that it is considered the first language to be learnt entirely from the mother.Avoiding this mystification, Lacan's concept of lalangue offers an opportunity to close in on a notion of language that treats environmental sounds as equivalents to the mother tongue. Here, one witnesses the infant babbling for its own enjoyment, moving beyond pure dependency and deficiency -and in this way also comes closer to linguistic concepts of poetry.
