Transcarotid access for thoracic endovascular aortic repair in the repair of a descending thoracic aorta pseudoaneurysm
Thoracic endovascular aortic repair has become an essential treatment for thoracic aortic aneurysmal disease. Aortic aneurysmal disease is often accompanied by iliofemoral disease and aortoiliac occlusive disease, which potentially complicates peripheral arterial access in these patients. Transcarotid access is an emerging option for alternative access available for the delivery of endografts to the thoracic aorta. We present the case of a pseudoaneurysm of the descending thoracic aorta that was repaired using transcarotid thoracic endovascular aortic repair with delivery facilitated using a covered, balloon-expandable stent.
