Synergistic All‐in‐One Electroceutical Platform Utilizing a Plasma–Photodynamic Hybrid Approach for Enhanced Wound Healing
ABSTRACT Next‐generation medical devices that integrate multimodal therapeutic functions have great potential for wound care and skin regeneration. This paper introduces a highly flexible, body‐attachable therapeutic patch that combines cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) with bio‐organic light‐emitting diode (bio‐OLED)‐based photodynamic therapy (PDT) to enhance wound healing. The CAP component is fabricated using a novel metal‐embedding flexible CAP method and achieves outstanding environmental durability and mechanical flexibility through Ag‐mesh electrodes embedded in polymer. In parallel, a 10‐µm‐thick bio‐OLED patch with symmetric encapsulation offers superior environmental and mechanical stability, delivering over 35 mW cm − 2 at 7 V, operating 115 h under ambient conditions, and retaining full functionality after 14 days of immersion in water. In vivo studies using a murine skin‐defect model confirm that compared to monotherapies, the combination of CAP and OLED‐based PDT significantly accelerates wound closure, neovascularization, cell proliferation, and collagen deposition. Mechanistically, CAP treatment increases skin permeability and promotes photosensitizer penetration, thereby enhancing the generation of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species and activating the transforming growth factor‐beta pathway after OLED‐based PDT treatment. These results establish the hybrid CAP and OLED electroceutical as a clinically promising multimodal therapeutic platform for efficient and accelerated tissue regeneration.
