Design and Implementation of Compact Vivaldi Antenna for Wireless Applications
This paper describes the design and simulation of a compact Vivaldi antenna intended for modern wireless communication systems. The antenna is realized on a Rogers RT5880 dielectric substrate to minimize dielectric losses and ensure reliable performance at higher operating frequencies. An exponentially tapered slot configuration is employed to achieve wide impedance bandwidth and directional end-fire radiation characteristics.Efficient excitation of the tapered slot is achieved through a microstrip-to-slotline transition, enabling smooth impedance transformation over the operating band. The antenna structure is modeled and analyzed using CST Microwave Studio, and its performance is evaluated in terms of return loss, voltage standing wave ratio, and radiation behavior.Simulation results confirm satisfactory impedance matching and stable directional radiation, demonstrating the suitability of the proposed antenna for compact wireless applications.
