<scp>WSPLK</scp> : A systematic approach to the thermodynamic characterization of light and heavy Mexican crude oil

Abstract A streamlined characterization framework (WSPLK) is presented for modelling complex reservoir fluids using cubic equations of state. The key methodological contribution is the introduction of a single global parameter ε directly into Pedersen's boiling‐point correlation, restoring pure‐component calibration and eliminating the need for empirical tuning of EOS parameters or binary interactions. Validation against 12 literature benchmark fluids and 5 Mexican samples (spanning volatile oils to heavy condensates) demonstrates that the WSPLK workflow reproduces saturation pressures with typical errors below 2% and maintains thermodynamic consistency across relative‐volume, Y‐Factor, and Z‐Factor validations.
