Nondeflation of endotracheal tube cuff despite a deflated pilot balloon causing laryngeal trauma after extubation: A case report
Abstract Inadvertent removal of an endotracheal tube (ETT) with an inflated cuff is a rare but potentially harmful event, leading to laryngeal trauma and other airway injuries. Here, we report a case where the ETT cuff remained inflated despite apparent pilot balloon deflation, resulting in resistance during extubation and mild post-extubation symptoms. This case report highlights the importance of proper tube fixation practices and the need for vigilance during extubation, especially when resistance is encountered.
