Trends in AI-Based Supply Chain Management: A Text Mining Analysis of Academic Literature

This study examines research trends in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and its impacts within the field of supply chain management (SCM). A total of 1,663 academic articles published since 2000 that investigate AI applications in SCM were analyzed using network text analysis and topic modeling techniques. The results reveal that the integration of AI into supply chain management has generated positive effects on traditional supply chain performance indicators, such as improved demand forecasting accuracy and enhanced inventory and logistics management. In addition, AI adoption has shown significant implications for supply chain sustainability and resilience. The analysis identifies four major research topic groups associated with AI-based supply chain management: (1) core technologies, (2) sustainability enhancement, (3) resilience building, and (4) security and ethical issues. By systematically structuring the existing body of research, this study provides a comprehensive overview of the evolving AI-SCM research landscape and offers directions for future research.
