A Comment on: ‘Message passing methods on complex networks’ (2023), by M. E. J. Newman
Abstract We complement the results of Newman (2023) (Newman 2023. Proc. R. Soc. A 479, 20220774. (doi:10.1098/rspa.2022.0774)) on the use of message-passing methods for the analysis of percolation by providing more robust mathematical foundations for the characterization of the percolation threshold in finite graphs and by highlighting that message-passing equations with different notions of neighbourhood capture different notions of percolation.
