From Kähler Hyperbolicity to Balanced Hyperbolicity

Abstract We give an overview of the study of manifolds possessing certain positive and hyperbolic classes. Starting from Gromov’s Kähler hyperbolicity, we describe some of its applications and some achievements in generalizing it as a birational invariant.
