THE MAIN STAGES OF THE WATER CIRCUIT IN A THERMAL POWER PLANT AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT WITHIN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS
Electricity production in Romania comes from classic thermoelectric power plants that use fossil fuels, the Cernavodă nuclear power plant, hydroelectric power plants, wind power, and photovoltaic solar panels. Through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Romania has assumed important objectives regarding the energy transition in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In this regard, starting with 2032, Romania will produce electricity only from nonpolluting energy sources. Until then, however, coal-fired power plants at the Oltenia Energy Complex will be maintained in operation and two new natural gas-fired power plants will be built at the Turceni and Ișanița power plants. Considering that the share of wastewater from the production and distribution of electricity is quite high, a point of interest is the way in which wastewater from the production process is managed and treated. Wastewater has a significant impact on the energy sector, especially in terms of electricity production and distribution.
